The fear and anger in straight men about gay men, is more fear and anger towards femininity and female sexuality. It speaks to how deeply rooted patriarchy is set in our minds. How could a man, being a ‘man’, subject himself to being treated like a ‘woman’, sexually speaking. Sex is biological and gender is socially constructed. I wasn’t born wanting to play with Barbies, I was taught that as a girl, I SHOULD play with Barbies.
I’m probably not explaining it right, I haven’t done enough research but I plan to, as soon as midterms are over.
I think it’s a very interesting remark.
Random pet peeve, when straight guys say ‘no homo’ after saying something like ‘I love you bro’ (say that in a mock macho voice). It’s so immature and I automatically think you’re slightly ignorant.
Being gay isn’t a sweater you put on or a life style to be chosen. I can’t tell you why I’m straight, I just am. I am sexually stimulated by men and I can’t control that. And guess what? Neither can people who are homosexual.
